This face-to-face method of fundraising is a cost-effective way for us to raise valuable funds to provide life-saving surgery for more children living with the burden of untreated cleft conditions. 

Our fundraisers will be visiting homes to talk to people about the work we do and ask them to support us with a regular gift. 

Where will the fundraisers be working?

They will be knocking on doors and speaking to the public in three different locations: the West Midlands (Birmingham and the surrounding areas), Oxfordshire, Wales and Bristol, between the hours of 10am – 9pm on weekdays and 10am – 8pm on weekends. 

We are currently fundraising in the following postcodes: B11, B13, B14, B27, B28, B31, B69, B92, CV37, G33, G61, G62. G63, G65, G69, G78, G81, NE46, NN3, NN13, OX1, OX2, OX3, OX4, OX5, OX9, OX10, OX11, OX15, OX16, OX20, OX26, OX27, OX28, OX29, OX30, OX31, OX32, OX33, OX34, PA5, PA6, PA11, PA13, RG1, RG2, RG3, RG4, WS3. 

Will the fundraisers accept cash?

Our fundraisers will only be asking for a regular gift, either by Direct Debit or card. We’re not taking one-off donations for this campaign. 

How will I know they’re a genuine Operation Smile fundraiser?

Our fundraisers will introduce themselves by showing their ID badge and will be wearing branded Operation Smile uniform, which may include a blue tabard, polo shirt and jacket. They will always announce that they’re a paid fundraiser working on behalf of Operation Smile. 

The fundraisers will also be using a tablet and will never ask a member of public to write any details on a paper form. 

Will the fundraisers be trained?

Yes, all the fundraisers will be trained on compliance and vulnerability policies. They will also receive Operation Smile specific training before they start fundraising for us.

Will you be using an agency?

We’re working with an agency called REAL Fundraising. With their specialist knowledge of face-to-face fundraising, they’ll be carrying out this door-to-door activity on our behalf. REAL are a certified B Corporation, which means they’re a business that meets high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. They also have 15 years of experience of conducting face-to-face fundraising.
