Get Started: Kids

We are asking children to turn unwanted t-shirts into hospital gowns. Every gown you send will save us approximately £3 in costs. Operation Smile will use the gowns during future medical projects.

Our goal is to make 20,000 gowns which will save a staggering £60,000! That’s enough money to help pay for 300 surgeries in Guwahati, India.

Talk to your teacher about getting your class involved in this special Send a Smile Appeal. Or ask your parents or a grown-up to download the information and help you make a unique hospital gown to send to Operation Smile.

Andy, Helen and Joel will be going to Guwahati in December 2009, let’s make sure they’ve got lots of gowns to take with them!

Make your gown stand out from the crowd to help make a child smile! Here are a few tips to help you get started:

• Choose a clean, brightly-coloured cotton t-shirt, this will make your gown cheerful and fun
• Follow the instructions to turn your t-shirt into a hospital gown
• Decorate to the max — add buttons, ribbons, badges, and different glitter pens!
• Tell your friends to join in the Send a Smile Appeal to help change the lives of children around the world
• Work with your teacher or a grown-up to drop off your gown at a collection point
